Startup Guide Nordic is the first entrepreneurial travel guide for the Nordic region providing insights into the trends of Nordic business and creative culture and offering an invitation to get-to-know the region’s strongest stakeholders. This book of all books on the Nordic innovation scene, will unite its member countries by showcasing a selection of the most significant innovations, as well as unveiling a handful of prominent startups from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Nordic Game Jam

Nordic Game Jam

THE IDEA

The Nordic Game Jam (April 13-16 2018) combine game creation, with a Developer Conference and a Startup Conference. This creates a unique way of networking, learning and generating new businesses within and around the game industry. The event builds on 12 years of experience of Nordic Game Jam. Based on the last year sold out event, this April it is expected to reach up to 800 participants from 36 countries. The goal is to strengthen the focus on business, combined with the creativity of the game jam, therefore the startup conference is added to this years event.

The Nordic 100

The Nordic 100

THE IDEA

The Nordic 100 is an annual publication recognising the 100 most impactful and influential figures in the Nordic tech scene each year.  The book recognises investors, entrepreneurs and community builders that are playing important roles in the region and are influencing what tomorrow looks like in the Nordics, and indeed the world. The book that was launched at Slush, will now be distributed to all the relevant hubs, ecosystems, and co-working spaces around the world.

Move to Nordics

Move to Nordics

THE IDEA

In order to attract more global talent to the region, the idea is to create a landing page with practical information about relocating to a Nordic country, highlighted job opportunities, upcoming European showcase events and a simple newsletter signup form. The platform uses existing data on all Nordic jobs that are relevant for European talent. In addition,  the project involves organizing showcases featuring Nordic startups, where this scene is not that well represented yet.

Join the Nordics

Join the Nordics

THE IDEA

Join the Nordics is meant to attract international tech talent to the Nordics. The idea is to create an ambassador network, where Nordic cities instead of competing against each other work together to attract talent from outside the region. Further, the project involves creating a Talent Committee. It will consist of ambassadors, who will act as an advisory board. They’ll consult pro bono local startups and companies within the Nordic regions on how to attract and retain foreign tech talents.

Best Place to Live

THE IDEA

The aim is to attract talent and interest from abroad by creating an interesting narrative using video campaign. By branding the Nordics as one region, it becomes more interesting for potential newcomers. Furthermore, the video can be used as a recruitment tool for Nordic startups looking to attract international talent.

Startup Portfolio Presentations

Startup Portfolio Presentations

THE IDEA

The project is a group trip for 40 Nordic business angels. The angels will either visit Paris or Berlin to connect with local investors and present the most interesting startups in their portfolio. Both trips will take 2 days with the goal to share the best practices in startup investing and strengthen cooperation between Nordic and central European angel communities. Rising North funding will be used cover event production costs in Paris and Berlin.

SXSW by Design

SXSW by Design

THE IDEA

The project will bring the most interesting Nordic design-driven business to SXSW - the world's biggest tech-conference. In practise, the project includes organising two network, sharing and inspirational events in the Nordics one before SXSW and after it. In addition two larger design events will be organised at SXSW Interactive to showcase Nordic design. A joint effort at SXSW Interactive will strengthen the Nordic identity and brand in areas where there is an enormous global interest.

Nordic Talent Ambassador

Nordic Talent Ambassador

THE IDEA

Nordic Talent Ambassadors is an innovative Nordic co-creation project. The first ever 15 Nordic talent ambassadors will be carefully selected and provided with training on telling about life and work in the Nordics. In practice, the ambassadors will do storytelling around the globe via social media to brand and communicate the career opportunities in the Nordics. The underlying idea is to present the region as one big career playing field and raise its appeal as a global talent destination, making the whole bigger than the sum of its parts.

Techbikers Nordic

Techbikers Nordic

Techbikers Nordics brought over 60 investors, technologists and founders together to cycle 420 km for a one-of-a-kind event from Copenhagen to Berlin. This was a charity bike ride to promote increased collaboration between Nordic startups and to connect the tech ecosystems of the Nordics and Berlin.

The event is an open mic speaking competition for 300 Nordic university students and entrepreneurs. The event is organized to emphasize the importance of speaking in entrepreneurship, motivate future entrepreneurs to learn to impact through words and to provide an opportunity to develop these skills and challenge oneself.

Sino Track

Sino Track

THE IDEA

Sino Track is a startup induction program, designed for Nordic companies that are interested in entering the Chinese market. The program offers a deep immersion into the Chinese market with themes such as market entry, legal and IPR issues, investment opportunities and marketing strategy. The program also provides companies with invaluable networking opportunities with local entrepreneurs and investors. The program will select 12-14 companies for the batch.

Nordic MusicTech Nexus

THE IDEA

The project focuses on realising the global potential in Nordic music technology startups through a series of capacity building events and support schemes as well as by establishing a dedicated Nordic and pan-European investor network. The Nordic MusicTech Nexus will organize a series of online and live events in each Nordic capital to support the best Nordic music startups in the region and provide them with a clear track to elevate their business ideas to the next level by accessing relevant expertise, trade networks and finance.

Nordic.AI Roundtables

THE IDEA

A series of “sprint” roundtables held at events to further the community building, marketing, PR, and internationalization of the AI ecosystem. Sprints are a framework for organizing diverse teams to tackle a problem, with the additional advantage of providing PR for participants by creating a policy agenda to promote. The “sprint” model of problem solving can quickly move from Nordic to international events, some of whom have already expressed interest. Themes tackled will be issues within the AI ecosystem, including better solutions to working with public data, talent attraction/acquisition, data sharing between startups and corporates, and fundraising.

Nordic Angel Choice Award

The purpose with Nordic Angel Choice Awards (NACA) was to create more cross-border Business Angel investments and highlight the role of Business Angels from all Nordic regions. The goal was to bring together both the Nordic startups and the Nordic Business Angels and to highlight and showcase good Business Angel practice and foster investments and syndications across borders.

VR-resan 2017 is a joint Nordic initiative to strengthen the Nordic ecosystems around VR/AR, which established direct connections to the VR/AR ecosystems– and business opportunities in Asia. The trip consisted of visits to cities where the future of VR/AR is created, such as Shenzhen/Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo.
